sigh i thought that i got accepted for a summer engineering internship, but i guess i only made it to the finals. i need help wrighting a letter to why i should be accepted but i dont know how to word it, im too stressed with it being good enough to beat the others. so shoutout to alexxlea and everyone else who is good with writing.
Why are you interested in participating in this program? What are your educational/career goals? Who do you "look to" for guidance about your future? Why? Do you have any hobbies or technical skills that are science/technology related? Please tell us a few things about your family. For example, do you have older brothers or sisters in college or who are college graduates? Are your parents college graduates? What are their occupations?
I want to participate in this program for the hands on experience that it will give me. this program will set me one step closer to acheiving my dreams of becoming an engineer.
I plan to applie for a UC and major in mechanical engineering. and this program will give me the knowledge and information that i need.
i look to my family for guidance, specifically my cousin. despite everyone telling him that he could not do it, he followed his dreams to becoming an artist. ever since i was a kid i would come to him for help, and if he could not he would find somone who would. he never stop beleiving in me.~~~~~
ever since i was a kid i always found technology fascinating. my friends and family always came to me to figure out a way to solve a problem, or to fix somthing. i have alot of computer experience, i enjoyed building model cars and such ~ is that related to being an mechanical engineer?
i live in a family of five. my dad my mom my old and younger brother. my parents both migrated from vietnam. i have an older and younger brother, 18 and 14. neither of my parents graduated from college.
my dad use to be a computer engineer and my mom use to work for grossmont college, but now my dad does smog checks and my mom works part time as a receptionist,
extra.
i want to be the first person in my family to graduate from college
my uncle is a chemical engineer.
and when answering the questions with the information i gave, feel free to make up stuff, like the generic good personality traits and like wanting to be a better person that kinda stuff
whoever helps me with this, if i get accepted i will paypal 50$
here is an example of a letter that got accepted
i want to have the experience of working for a company and being able to work towards a goal. MTS will provide a project which will motivate me to learn more about engineering. It would be wonderful to actually work towards something instead of looking at the guide books and fiddle around with the sample algorithms. This internship seems to really help the students learn. For example, the student from Valhalla taught Labview to himself and compiled automatic collections system for them. The internship gave him data that he could utilize as an engineer. A project to work on is the best engineering experience I can get, and having such experience will help my chances of entering a UC university. My educational goals are to Major in computer science engineering, preferably computer engineering and designing software. I find computers fascinating and every time I learn more about them, I have an accomplished sense of joy when I understand how software or hardware works. I look to my family for guidance about my future, mainly my sister. I admire her because I’m proud of what she has accomplished in her life and admire her independence and strong will to do well in everything. She has guided me in school since I was in elementary and probably all the way through college. Even though we don’t share the same interest in our majors she supports my nerdy behavior to pursue being a computer wiz. However I’m interested in engineering because my dad, aunts/uncles, and cousins all majored in EE through my experiences with my dad. My interest further grew when I started to chat online with people who have extensive knowledge in computers and programming. My online friends teach and guide me through many things and I want to be as knowledgeable as them. My hobbies all have to do with technology. When I was approaching my teen years I got my own computer. I have been troubleshooting problems, modifying, and maintaining to keep my computer up to date. I appreciate my dad for teaching me about computers, cars, and household tasks that he’ll relate back to science. I looked at the MTS website and read over the interns’ experiences and I have also fiddled around with AutoCAD and MATrixLABoratories. I have also seen my dad work with OrCAD, PSpice, Xilinx ISE, and ModelSim. Watching him design the boards doesn’t interest me as much as software. I always remembered the first time I learned binary and hexadecimal. One day I wondered what the 0-9/A-F stood for. My dad then told me it was Hexadecimal numbers using base 16 instead of base 10. Then we had a discussion about binary and hexadecimal and I was fascinated. He then told me how the mouse worked, (by the xy coordinates and the binary bytes given through it). I was in awe and it happens every time; when I learned you could drag applications to notepad and edit, when I started to use Hex workshop, and when I decided to learn internet security. I have one older sister who is at UCSD and was majoring in pre-med. My father graduated from SDSU with a masters in EE and is a digital and analog design engineer that works in the communications and automated control industries. My mom works in electronic assembly at Qualcomm. My dad came to America as an exchange student but my mom immigrated here a bit later and worked at her grandpa’s restaurant so she never got the opportunity to go to college.

Damn, that essay that got accepted was pretty well-written. Kid sounds like a genius. BOOM HIRED. I'm not even kidding. If I read that essay and I wrote up a half-assed job like yours I woulda been like, "Oh yea, I can totally see why my dick got crushed. GG."
I wouldn't pick you though. Your shit is too generic and doesn't go into any detail. Refer to swiss' topic on people being too vague and thus, sounding stupid. IF this is a legit engineering internship, then they will immediately recognize the 80% of bullshit that you have written. You say you have a passion, but never go out and do anything to pursue it.
What do you do all day with your time? Go and learn about computers and other useful shit? Na, you just a lazy high school kid playin dota and rememberin item recipes instead of equations np.
If you get hired and actually train for the position, yea sure, you could be something and become qualified, but fact of the matter is that if you do manage to get the job, you'll feel like a dumbass because it will probably be your first time going out into the real world and being put to the test. You learn that school teaches you little to no applicable knowledge this way.
How do you win? Simple. You just lie + DO SOME RESEARCH TO BACK UP LIES AND MAKE THEM BELIEVABLE. Find out what the company is about, see what events they have planned, go fucking find information to write into that essay to make them all think you care so much about their company. If you say you like computers, talk about why you love computers, if you say you love the company, say why you love the company. I can't believe you want me to break it down that much.
Otherwise, you paypal me $300 and I do it for you.
Go do it yourself faggot.

$50? PFFT. If he gets this job, he'll get paid. Fuck that shit. If I got a job that paid me a wad of cash for 6 weeks of work, I'd feel entitled to give the guy that wrote me the essay that got me in, at least 5-10%. But yea, I'm broke as well, but I found a job so have at it kids.
